The Polish Agency for Audit Oversight participated in the 32nd plenary meeting of the Committee of European Auditing Oversight Bodies (CEAOB). The meeting was held in Vienna from 30 June to 1 July 2026 and was hosted by the Austrian audit oversight authority, APAB (Abschlussprüferaufsichtsbehörde).
During the meeting, the Committee members adopted the updated terms of reference of the International Auditing Standards Sub-Group and elected its new Chair. The position was assumed by Waldemar Majek, Deputy Director of the Department of Oversight, Analysis and International Cooperation at the Polish Agency for Audit Oversight. He is the second PANA representative to chair a CEAOB sub-group. The Enforcement Sub-Group is chaired by Agnieszka Koprowska, Deputy Director of PANA’s Department of Proceedings and Legal Services.
The Committee adopted a report prepared by the Enforcement Sub-Group presenting aggregated information on administrative measures and penalties imposed by European oversight authorities in 2025.
As part of the reports on the work of the sub-groups, the Chair of the Inspections Sub-Group referred, among other matters, to the meeting held in Warsaw on 17–18 June 2026 (link). The Committee also approved the application of the Moldovan oversight authority, PAOC, for observer status at plenary meetings and discussed the impact of private equity investment on audit firms, as well as the consistency of oversight practices across Europe. The main assumptions of the CEAOB’s technical advice on the sustainability reporting assurance standard, which will be submitted to the European Commission, were also adopted.
Participation in the work of the CEAOB remains one of the pillars of the international cooperation of the Polish Agency for Audit Oversight, aimed at improving audit quality and ensuring consistency of audit oversight across the European Union.
